2015 International Young Choreographers Project: Melissa Sanderson

Melissa Sanderson IYCP 2015Melissa Sanderson is a dance artist whose work takes the forms of choreography, performance, and dance film. Most recently, she was selected for the International Young Choreographer Project, a three-week choreography residency in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Her choreography has also been presented at Ponderosa in Stolzenhagen, Germany, the Texas Dance Improvisational Festival, the American College Dance Association, Big Rig Dance Collective's Co-Op, and the inaugural Eastfield College Faculty Dance Concert. Sanderson has performed in a variety of festivals in the U.S.A., Switzerland, The Netherlands, and Germany, and her teaching experience extends to Switzerland and Bolivia. She received the Excellence in Choreography Scholarship Award: Videodance from Texas Woman’s University for her work selected by international dance film festivals in the U.S.A., Italy, Turkey, Brazil, Mexico, and France. Currently, Sanderson is an Adjunct Professor at the University of North Texas, Eastfield College and Tarrant County College, Co-chair of the Creation and Presentation Network of the World Dance Alliance-Americas, and company member of Contemporary Ballet Dallas. She holds a B.F.A. in Dance from San Diego State University, where she received the 2014 Alumni to Watch Award, and a M.F.A. in Dance from Texas Woman’s University. www.melissasanderson.com.
